Beatriz Martínez Candano, Director of Security Solutions at Ericsson for Latin America, shared keys to strengthening the digital resilience of companies and institutions.

Panama, March 26, 2026. The American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama (AmCham Panamá) and Ericsson held a discussion with executives from member companies and media representatives to provide up-to-date information on trusted technologies for Panamanian companies. It was an opportunity for attendees to learn about the innovations, trends and risks in today’s market, since cybersecurity must be taken on as a strategic component of digital development and not as a response after the risk has materialized.

Beatriz M. Candano, Director of Security Solutions at Ericsson for Latin America, addressed the challenges and opportunities that come with the deployment of next-generation technologies, especially in an environment where connectivity is advancing rapidly and transforming key sectors of the economy. In that context, she stressed that 5G represents not only greater speed and capacity, but also an enabling platform for innovation, automation and the digitalization of critical services.

Candano said: “Telecommunications are critical infrastructure; network cybersecurity must be a strategic priority. Digital insecurity already ranks among the main global risks, and technological risks are growing faster than our ability to respond. Geopolitics and the resilience gap in Latin America make the picture more complex, which is why we need secure providers built on three pillars: secure engineering, responsible operation and transparent governance. At Ericsson we are committed to strengthening the trust and resilience of networks, working with the digital ecosystem and with customers and partners to design and deploy secure, sustainable solutions.”

Against that backdrop, the need to adopt a comprehensive view of security was emphasized, based on prevention, risk management, operational resilience and continuous protection, since the growth of connected ecosystems, the increase in the number of devices and the digitalization of processes also widen the surface exposed to cyber threats.

It was stressed that cybersecurity must hold a priority place on the business and public agenda, especially as technologies such as 5G open new possibilities in industries such as logistics, manufacturing, health, education and financial services. For those benefits to materialize in a sustainable way, it is essential that networks and technology solutions be developed on secure and trustworthy foundations.

The presentation also made it possible to reflect on the role of collaboration among companies, authorities, industry associations and players in the digital ecosystem in strengthening preparedness against increasingly sophisticated threats. In that regard, Ericsson highlighted the importance of promoting spaces for dialogue and analysis that help build a better understanding of the challenges of digital transformation and the need to build resilient infrastructure.
