Panama, July 23, 2026. With the aim of providing the business sector with strategic information, practical tools and real-world experience to strengthen trade between Panama and the United States, the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama, AmCham Panamá, opened today the Trade Forum: “Advances in Trade Facilitation Between Panama and the United States – Market Opening Opportunities for Panamanian Companies.”

The event brought together authorities, international trade specialists, representatives of the private sector and exporting companies at a key moment for Panama, which is seeking to turn its logistics position, its connectivity and its trade relationship with the United States into greater opportunities for growth, investment and market access.

The day began with opening remarks by Mariela de la Guardia Oteiza, president of AmCham Panamá, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the conditions that allow more Panamanian companies to compete internationally.

The forum addressed the evolution of the instruments that facilitate trade between Panama and the United States, with the participation of experts from the private sector and authorities working in the areas of economy and customs.

Eric Dormoi, of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, delivered the keynote address “Requirements for Access of Panamanian Agro-Industrial Products to the U.S. Market,” on the requirements for Panamanian agro-industrial products to enter the U.S. market, a topic of great interest for companies seeking to diversify destinations, raise standards and take advantage of new export opportunities.

The program also included two panels, moderated by Giomar González of BASC Panamá and Ana Josefina Clement of Deloitte Panamá, in which representatives of Panamanian companies with export experience shared lessons learned, challenges and opportunities from sectors such as logistics, agro-industry, manufacturing and seafood products. This component allowed attendees to learn, from business practice, what it takes to compete in international markets.

“Panama has important advantages, but to take full advantage of them we need companies that are better informed, more connected and prepared to meet the requirements of demanding markets such as that of the United States. This forum seeks precisely to open that conversation and translate it into concrete opportunities,” said De La Guardia Oteiza, President of AmCham Panamá.

With this initiative, AmCham Panamá reaffirms its commitment to promoting trade, investment, competitiveness and the strengthening of the economic relationship between Panama and the United States.
