As part of its commitment to strengthening the quality of education and developing school leaders, AmCham Panamá, in partnership with Glasswing Panamá and thanks to the support of its member companies, held the fifth training session of the School Leadership Program of San Miguelito 2026, focused on the use of data for decision-making and on the management of education projects.
The activity took place on Wednesday, August 26, at the facilities of Quality Leadership University (QLU) and brought together 40 participants from 20 public schools in the San Miguelito region, among them 16 administrators, 23 teachers and 1 education supervisor.
During the session, participants toured the QLU facilities and had the opportunity to see first-hand how a higher education institution operates through exchanges with staff from different areas, including Finance, Marketing, Communications, Executive Education, the Secondary School, Academic Exchanges and Academic Affairs.
They also took part in a discussion with the rector of QLU, Dr. Oscar León, who shared his experience of the challenges and lessons involved in making strategic decisions to lead educational institutions of excellence and to generate a positive impact on students’ lives.
As the core of the training, workshops were held to strengthen the ability of administrators and teachers to make data-driven decisions. Participants explored methods for combining quantitative analysis with knowledge of their own educational contexts, enabling them to identify opportunities for improvement and to support decisions with evidence.
The session also included hands-on segments on the use of artificial intelligence tools for data analysis, strategic planning, and the management and evaluation of education projects. These tools were presented as allies for streamlining processes, strengthening school management and supporting the implementation of high-impact initiatives within schools.
Among the main takeaways highlighted by participants were the importance of using artificial intelligence as a support tool for educational work, the application of SMART objectives in project planning, and the value of developing a forward-looking vision to address the challenges of the education system. The training was facilitated by Mariana León, Dr. Oscar León, María Alejandra Quintero, Berna Girón, Mónica León, Oscar Ramos and Lucía León, who shared knowledge and experience from different areas of institutional and educational management.
In this way, AmCham Panamá continues to advance the leadership, innovation and management capabilities of school administrators in San Miguelito, promoting the transfer of knowledge between the private sector and the public education sector in order to contribute to the development of quality education in Panama. We thank QLU for such an invaluable contribution to education in Panama.
