AmCham Panamá, in coordination with the Panamanian Food Agency (APA), held the training session “Update on Food Import and Export Procedures between the United States and Panama”, a space designed to strengthen technical knowledge and promote the exchange of key information between authorities and companies in the sector.
The event began with welcoming remarks from Mariela de la Guardia Oteiza, President of AmCham Panamá, who stressed the importance of creating these spaces for learning and exchange for member companies, and also highlighted the positive impact they have on strengthening bilateral trade and on developing faster, more efficient commercial relationships between Panama and the United States.
During the session, participants had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the most relevant updates relating to the processes and requirements for importing and exporting food, as well as the functions and procedures carried out by the Panamanian Food Agency.
We thank the speakers for their participation: Erick Dormoi, National Director of Exports; Irene Ortega, Director of Operations at APA, who presented “The Role of the Panamanian Food Agency”; and Gilenia Montaya, Head of the Document Admission Department at APA, who addressed the requirements for importing food for human consumption and the inclusion of importing plants.
The training allowed attendees to clarify questions, update their knowledge and strengthen their capabilities in regulatory and commercial matters, thereby helping to facilitate food trade processes between the two markets.
AmCham Panamá thanks all participants for being part of this space for updates, dialogue and knowledge exchange, reaffirming its commitment to continue advancing initiatives that add value to the business sector and promote a more competitive and dynamic business environment.
