On July 2, AmCham Panamá held the hybrid Leadership Meeting “Sustainability Strategies in the Americas: Panama in Regional Perspective”, bringing together representatives of the business sector, academia and international organizations to present the results of the regional study “Integrated corporate sustainability strategies in Latin America” and to analyze the role of sustainability as a key factor for competitiveness.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Mariela de la Guardia, president of AmCham Panamá, together with Cole Matino, Associate Manager Americas of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The results of the regional study developed by Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez of Chile were then presented, in collaboration with the Association of American Chambers of Commerce of Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA), with the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The research analyzed how companies in 11 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean are incorporating sustainability into their business strategies, also offering a comparative perspective that made it possible to see Panama’s position relative to regional trends.
The presentation was delivered by María Magdalena Aninat, director of the Centro Futuros Empresariales of the Business School of Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, and Esteban Koberg de la Cruz, program director at EGADE Business School and professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, who shared the main findings of the study and answered participants’ questions during a question-and-answer session moderated by Jennifer Castillo, Chair of the Sustainability Committee of AmCham Panamá.
