Panama City, October 22, 2026. <\/strong>The American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama (AmCham Panam\u00e1) recognized six corporate initiatives during the 2026 edition of the Sustainable Leadership Recognition (RLS), its flagship sustainability program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programs were selected from among 20 submissions presented by member companies and were evaluated by a select group of national and international jurors in the Environment, Social and Governance categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Environment<\/strong> category, the recognition went to \u201cSanta Mar\u00eda Verde – Sostenibilidad,\u201d from The Santa Mar\u00eda, A Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort. In the Social<\/strong> category, the \u201cPrograma \u00danica,\u201d from Global Bank, was honored, while in Governance<\/strong> the \u201cPrograma de \u00c9tica y Cumplimiento\u201d from AES Panam\u00e1 was recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jury also granted honorable mentions<\/strong> to \u201cDHL Mission 2050: Hacia una Log\u00edstica Cero Emisiones,\u201d from DHL Panam\u00e1, S.A.; \u201cLearning for Life,\u201d from Diageo; and \u201cTransparencia y Rendici\u00f3n de Cuentas con Grupos de Inter\u00e9s,\u201d from Banco Nacional de Panam\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSustainability is increasingly measured by what happens inside the operation: how a company uses its resources, relates to people, manages its risks and makes decisions. The programs recognized this year show that in Panama there are concrete experiences, developed from very different business realities, that can serve as a reference for other organizations,\u201d said Mariela De La Guardia Oteiza, president of AmCham Panam\u00e1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since it was created in 2010, the RLS has received more than 200 submissions from more than 110 member companies, which has made it possible to assemble a valuable repository of experiences in environmental management, social development, ethics, transparency and corporate governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Oris Sanjur, Deputy Director of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) in Panama, <\/strong>on the topic \u201cFrom Knowledge to Action: The Role of Science in Building Resilience.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evaluation was carried out by an independent jury with national and international participation. The international jurors were Edgar L\u00f3pez Pimentel, from Mexico<\/strong>, general director of EXPOKNews, and Esteban Koberg, from Chile<\/strong>, academic and researcher at EGADE Business School. Representing Panama were Natalia Young<\/strong>, vice president of Fundaci\u00f3n Yaguar\u00e1 Panam\u00e1; Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Padilla<\/strong>, director of the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administraci\u00f3n (IESA); Julio Mosquera Stanziola<\/strong>, president of ANREH; and Vilma Barr\u00eda de Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, president of the Strategic Oversight Committee of the Instituto de Gobierno Corporativo de Panam\u00e1 for the 2025-2026 term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evaluation process was overseen by Luisa Castro, a researcher at Georgia Tech Panam\u00e1, who certified the results and the transparency of the process. The final results were also endorsed by an authorized notary public of the Sixth Notary Office, who attested to their transparency and accuracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created by AmCham Panam\u00e1 in 2010, the Sustainable Leadership Recognition seeks to identify and share good business practices with concrete results, so that they can become benchmarks for other organizations and contribute, from the private sector, to Panama\u2019s sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
